PM J.ERDENEBAT MET WITH AMBASSADOR OF CANADA IN CONNECTION TO HIS RETURN

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today, on August 3, Prime Minister of Mongolia J.Erdenebat received the Ambassador of Canada to Mongolia Ed Jager in connection with his return to Canada. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Ed Jager addressed the development of bilateral relations and various activities done during his term and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister. For the sides to extend current “Comprehensive Partnership” to “Complete Partnership”, the Prime Minister’s involvement and contribution is significant, marked the Ambassador Ed Jager. PM J.Erdenebat requested Canada to actively cooperate on “Agreement on Promotion and Protection of Foreign Investment”, which started implementing this year and gave positive signs of Mongolian legal environment to Canadian and other foreign investors, by promoting the agreement. Although our country actively cooperate with Canada in the mining sector, the Government is focusing on diversifying the economy, which is heavily dependent on mining sector, and interested in cooperating in the agriculture sphere, expressed Prime Minister. Additionally, a total of USD 6.9 worth of products were imported from Canada in the first half of 2017. PM then said “Mr. Ed Jager, Mongolia will continue to be the main partner of Canada. Within the frame of Development Program of Canadian Government, Mongolia was listed as one of the 25 countries to be granted development aid, implementing 6 projects worth of CAD 55.4 million since 2016. Aside from the major project of Oyu Tolgoi, our two countries cooperate actively in mining and trade sectors, and the banking sector cooperation is intensifying as well, said Ambassador of Canada to Mongolia Mr. Ed Jager.
