PM PROMISES TO OPEN NEW CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ In scope of the visit to Uvs aimag, the PM held a meeting with Central Hospital’s health workers, at which he said that the required financing for maintaining ‘Ward of Infectious Disease’ will be solved, reported the Press Division of the Government on March 23. The PM also presented ambulance cars and other medical equipment to the Central Hospital of the aimag and the hospital of Buhmurun soum. In Uvs aimag, the mortality under five is five times higher than the national average. It connects with longer cold season between November and April. Especially in January and February, it is around -40 Celsius in daytime whilst it is usually -50-55 Celsius in nighttime. The colder temperature causes to increase flu and flu-like illness among children. The central hospital has a capacity for 44 children, but currently there are over 80 patients. For this reason, the Prime Minister decided to project a required financing for building a 50-bed children’s hospital in the state budget 2019 and complete the construction within short term. He also said that the government will pay a special attention on salary and social issues of doctors and health workers. Afterwards, he met with authorities, teachers and students of ‘Ulaangom’ Polytechnical College. While working in Uvs aimag, the Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh and other ministers resolved required financing to construct a new 50-bed children’s hospital, open an ADB-funded decontamination and disinfection laboratory, re-equip theatre and cultural centers and kitchens of complex schools and maintain the kindergarten #6 and Cultural Development Center. In addition, it was decided to modernize the depot of hospitals of soums and provide necessary equipment and machineries of agriculture and environment.
