PM visits Chanthaburi to follow up farmer integration project
CHANTHABURI, June 7 (TNA) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha has visited the eastern province of Chanthaburi to follow up the progress of large scaled farms as well as the management of farm products.
The premier on Wednesday travelled to the Khao Khitchakut agricultural cooperatives and was briefed about the large scaled farming project and fruit produce management.
He handed over 10 million baht of credit loans for large scaled farm development and the motor pool to support agricultural machinery for dairy farmers. Meanwhile, about 25 million baht of credits for working capital was offered to representatives of the agricultural cooperatives for buying fruits from its members.
The prime minister also opened the Baan Tha-udom water pump station for the large scaled farm project.
He said the government paid attention to strengthen farming sectors and to support area-based farming, particularly in Chanthaburi, which has varieties of farm products.
He said the congregation forming of small scaled growers into the large scaled farmers will strengthen their capability in effective farm produce management and they will have more negotiating power. The main guideline is to cut the production cost, use technology and innovation for product quality and standard development for the market demand, he added.
After meeting local people, he visited an exhibition on farming methods in the province as well as observed quality control processes for fruits, bound for export and a mangosteen auction. (TNA)
