PM will meet US President Trump on Monday

BANGKOK, Sept 30 (TNA) -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha will meet US President Donald Trump on Monday, a day earlier than planned because the latter has to visit victims of Hurricane Maria which hit Puerto Rico last week, said a deputy Thai government spokesman. Lieutenant General Weerachon Sukhonthapathiphak told journalists upon his arrival in Washington DC early Saturday that the two government leaders will hold private talks one day earlier because the US president has a tight schedule in visiting the hurricane victims in several US areas. Lt Gen Weerachon arrived in the US capital to make preparations for the Thai government leader’s official visit which is the first time after he has seized the administrative power from the government of prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra on May 22, 2014. Gen Prayut will pay a three-day official visit to the US between October 2 – 4. Lt Gen Weerachon said the meeting which is pushed forward a day earlier would not affect earlier schedules, including plans for accompanying Thai businessmen to meet their American counterparts.
