Police to seek arrest warrant for hospital bomb suspect
BANGKOK, June 16 (TNA) – The police will seek an arrest warrant from the court for a bomb suspect, detained yesterday for his involvement in the bombing at Phramongkutklao Hospital last month, said Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul.
Pol Gen Srivara said the police would today wrap up evidence to press charges against the 62-year-old former electrical engineer for his possession of explosive devices.
The initial evidence showed that he might be linked to explosions at the National Theater on May 15 and the old Government Lottery Office on April 5 as well as the bombing in front of Major Ratchayothin in 2007.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan confirmed that the man, identified as Wattana Pumret carried the attacks since 2007 as he disliked the military. However, more details will come out after the thorough investigation.
Joint military and police officials searched a house in Ramintra area and found wires, plastic pipes and other bomb making materials.
The man was arrested yesterday and was detained for questioning at the 11th Military Circle.
He later confessed to planting the bomb at Phramongkutklao Hospital on May 22, wounding more than 20 people.
Footage of CCTV surveillance cameras at the military hospital captured his picture, leading to the investigation to arrest him.
The investigation is under way to find more suspects, who could be involved in the cases. (TNA)
