PREMIER REGRETS AT DEMPARTY'S DECISION
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister and chairman of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) S.Batbold expressed on Thursday his regret at the statement made by the Democratic Party (DP) on leaving the coalition government.
The Premier reported that this intention was sounded earlier, on Wednesday by the DP chairman N.Altankhuyag.
“There are many works to be done jointly. As a leader of the coalition government, I asked N.Altankhuyag to solve together the problems in respect of interests of people and development of Mongolia,” the Premier said. “As it was said, such a step of the DP is connected with this year's parliamentary election. Nonetheless, this was a surprise, and I do regret hearing this statement,” the Premier added.
S.Batbold noted that the MPP took 46 seats out of 76 at the parliamentary election of 2008, but asked the DP to establish the coalition government in order to deal with the biggest matters, improve livelihood of people, protect the country's interests. “We have managed to set up our coalition government of the supreme democracy in the democratic society,” he said.
He expressed hope that the DP at its meeting of the national consultative committee will seriously reconsider its intention to leave the government.
