PRESIDENT KH.BATTULGA MEETS OFFICIALS OF "CHILDREN OF ASIA" GAMES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today, on August 16, President Kh.Battulga received the officials of International Committee of “Children of Asia” Sports Games. The delegates included the President of International Committee of “Children of Asia” Games Dmitry Glushko, Vice-President of the Committee, Member of Russian Duma and Russian Olympic Committee’s Board Member Marat Bariev and other officials. At the beginning, President of International Committee of “Children of Asia” Games Dmitry Glushko informed that the festival will be taking place in Mongolia for the first time in June, 2020. The decision was made during the government-level meeting in 2016. “The fact that the famous Sambo and Judo wrestlers being elected as the President of Mongolia and Russia is significant for promoting sports. President of Russia Vladimir Putin is highly supportive to our multi-sports event” highlighted the guests and noted that the festival is not only a sports event, but an opportunity to attract investments as well. By the initiatives of the Sakha Republic, the federal subject of Russia, the “Children of Asia” Games took place in Mongolia for the first time in 1996. Since then, Mongolian athletes have been trained for the festival and over 650 Mongolian athletes have participated in the event, winning a total of 193 medals and ranked 3rd with the medal count. The festival takes place in 16-22 sports categories and involves athletes of over 30 Asian countries up to age 16. Dmitry Glushko addressed that the “Children of Asia” 2020 will be unique for including Mongolian Wrestling category, promoting Mongolian National Wrestling to the world. President Kh.Battulga responded “As an athlete, I personally support the festival, but I’m also worried as well. I am worried about the stadium, infrastructure and management required to hold this event. Behind this event, reputation of Mongolia is at stake”. “Sport is something I know the best. Due to the fast-development of social network, the younger generation has lost interest in sports nowadays. Therefore, holding an international sports event in Mongolia is a great idea. I will provide full support on this”. The officials of “Children of Asia” Games highlighted that many countries have sent their request to hold the event, but as the neighbor of Russian Federation and maintaining friendly relations to every other Asian countries, as well as the sports talent of their children, Mongolia was selected in 2016.
