PRESIDENT MAKES SUGGESTIONS ON AMENDMENT OF CONSTITUTION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President Ts.Elbegdorj reviewed a draft document to collect suggestions for amendment to the Constitution of Mongolia, and added several proposals for consideration. The official letter said, “In order to uphold the Constitution of Mongolia and its core concept, the amendment must concern the principle of distribution, control and balance of power between Parliament and the Cabinet”. The President’s suggestions: -Prime Minister must appoint the members of the Cabinet, and the decision must be validated by President within 72 hours -Dismissal of Prime Minister must be sanctioned by the appointment of the successor -President must validate Prime Minister’s proposal to announce Parliamentary irregular elections within 72 hours -An individual isn’t allowed to take the posts of Member of Parliament and the Cabinet at the same time -Prime Minister must deliver written notes to Parliament and President regarding the dismissal of a Member of the Cabinet “It is advisable that the suggestions be discussed by the public to reach consensus”, the letter read.
