PRESIDENT MEETS WITH HU JINTAO

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Within the 12th meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj met with Hu Jintao, the President of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Beginning this meeting, the PRC President Hu Jintao expressed his satisfaction with meeting again with the State Head of Mongolia, and thanked him for attending the SCO meeting. The Mongolia's President Elbegdorj expressed gratitude to his counterpart for inviting him to the SCO's meeting, and noted that the PRC has been contributing to forwarding the SCO's actions. Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated the PRC on successful chairmanship of the SCO in 2011-2012, and said that Mongolia is satisfied with widening and strengthening of the SCO's activities and rising of the reputation at international arena. He said that Mongolia has a willingness to expand its cooperation with China in frames of the SCO especially in realizing projects on infrastructure, energy and agriculture. “Developing long-term and sustainable friendly relations and cooperation with the PRC is one of the priorities of the Mongolia's foreign policy. I am confident that a new cabinet to be formed after the parliamentary election will continue and keep this policy,” Ts.Elbegdorj said, expressing a satisfaction with widening of the Mongolia-China ties in all sectors and with deepening of the mutual trust of politics. The President Elbegdorj emphasized that an establishment of the bilateral strategic partnership relations was a vital action for the history of the bilateral relations, and then said Mongolia has aspirations of keeping the frequency of high-level mutual visits and deepening the exchange and collaboration between legislative bodies and political parties in order to strengthening the political relations and mutual trust. Mentioning about the visits of some Ministers of the both sides paid to each other's countries, Ts.Elbegdorj said Mongolia is ready to accept visits of the PRC President; and Wu Bangguo, a chairman and Party secretary of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. The President Ts.Elbegdorj mentioned that the bilateral cooperation in defense sector has been expanding with new contents, and underlined an importance of reaching a bilateral agreement on continuing joint military exercises and on military-technical collaboration. “The trade and economic cooperation is one of the important driving forces to develop our strategic partnership. China is the biggest investor and purchaser of Mongolian products. Mongolia wants to increase investments from China for environmentally-friendly high-technologies,” Ts.Elbegdorj stressed. In response, Mr. Hu thanked the Mongolia's side for attaching a great importance to the ties with the PRC, and then noted that China always wants to develop side by side with Mongolia. The PRC President highlighted an importance of strengthening the political mutual understanding and trust and the foresight over them. He noted that the Mongolia-China relations have been developing in all levels, following new achievements in the commercial and economic fields. Mr. Hu thanked the Mongolian President for inviting him and Wu Bangguo to visit Mongolia. Ts.Elbegdorj expressed thanks to Mr. Hu for saying the friendly words about the bilateral relations, and hoped that the Mongolia-China friendly relations and cooperation will widen with mutual efforts.
