PRESIDENT MEETS WITH THEIN SEIN

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ After deliver a speech at the General debate of the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, the President Ts.Elbegdorj met with his counterpart from Myanmar Mr Thein Sein. The leader of Mongolia congratulated Myanmar on its first steps towards the democracy and wished a success. “I am happy to put forward a proposal to Myanmar to set up a working group at the Community of Democracies with an aim to promote Myanmar's democracy,” Elbegdorj said. This proposal has been backed at a meeting of the CoD's Leading Council held in July in Ulaanbaatar, then, the working group held its first meeting on September 26 in New York city to discuss its structure and function. Mongolia has been selected as a chair of this working group. Mr Elbegdorj said Mongolia intends to share with Myanmar its experience in the democracy and to expand the relations and cooperation with it in the trade and tourism sectors. In turn, Mr Sein thanked Mongolia for issuing and realizing many important initiatives within its presidency of the CoD. He underlined that Myanmar is attaching a great importance to Mongolia's initiative and support and said he wants to study Mongolia's experience in the democratic development. B.Khuder
