Qatari emir calls for maintenance of friendly ties with Iran

TEHRAN, June 12(MNA) – Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani called for maintenance of friendly and brotherly relations between Tehran and Doha. Qatari emir made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi on Monday. He also described the Islamic Republic as a major regional country and said that the Qatari government believes that the solution to Iran’s nuclear issue could only be worked out through dialogue. The Iranian minister also said that the friendly relationship between Iran and Qatar can serve as a model for other regional countries. He added that the Islamic Republic has always tried to bring peace and security to the Persian Gulf region. Qasemi also extended President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to the Qatari emir to attend the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran in late summer.
