RE-ELECTION TO RUN AT 26TH CONSTITUENCY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A re-election will be held at the 26th constituency in the city's Songinokhairkhan district. It was reported on Thursday by M.Baasandorj, a head of the 26th sub-committee of the parliamentary election. According him, 113 thousand and 983 voters, or 63.61 per cent of 179 thousand and 194 registered citizens cast their votes to elect three MPs, and these votes have been considered as valid. As a result of the voting, a candidate from the "Justice" joint coalition of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and the National Democratic Party D.Terbishdagva took 37.19% of votes; and a candidate from the Democratic Party--31.21%. The third seat is still vacant because other candidates L.Erkhembayar (DP) gained 26.89% , and D.Sumyabazar (MPP)--25.22% of votes, which means they did not cross the 28% threshold of election. In accordance with a direction given by the General Election Commission (GEC), the re-election will run on July 8, and the election advertising is banned for the candidates as well. B.Khuder
