Retreat cabinet meeting to be held next week

BANGKOK, Sept 10 (TNA) -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and his cabinet members will hold a two-day meeting in the Central provinces of Suphan Buri and Thailand’s former capital of Ayutthaya next week, said Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam. The meeting will be organised on September 18 and 19 and major issues to be discussed by ministers are water management, rice and tourism, said Mr Wissanu. Concerned government agencies and governors of 16 Central provinces held a meeting on Friday to map out preparations and outstanding issues for the government to consider during the upcoming meeting, he said. The retreat cabinet meeting is like a onsite meeting between the government and the private sector, aimed at solving persisting economic problems prevailing in the country, Mr Wissanu said. The cabinet last month held a retreat meeting in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima and ministers discussed transportation and basic infrastructures needed for the region, he added.
