Rodong Sinmun on Popular Resistance in S. Korea in 1946

Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday in an article says the popular resistance in south Korea in October of 1946 was an eruption of the resentment of the south Korean people at the U.S. imperialists' military occupation of south Korea and their policy of colonial enslavement and an anti-U.S., patriotic resistance to win democracy, reunification and independence of the country. The resistance staged in 73 cities and counties with at least 2.3 million patriotic people involved dealt a deadly blow at the colonial rule of the U.S. imperialists over south Korea and struck the pro-U.S. stooges who betrayed the nation with horror and uneasiness, the article notes, and goes on: Whoever truly desires the sovereignty of the nation and peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula should turn out in the patriotic struggle of justice to drive the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces out of south Korea and deal a sledge-hammer blow at the Park Geun Hye group of traitors. This is the only way for the south Korean people to force the U.S. imperialists and their lackeys to pay for the blood shed by the October resistance martyrs and bring about a new independent world, a new morning of national reunification. -0-
