Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs visits London

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Secretary of State for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia D.Davaasuren met with Simon McDonald, the Under Secretary of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Rick Shears, the Team Leader of the Asia Pacific Department of the FCO.
Secretary of State D.Davaasuren said that in the scope of its 'third neighbour' policy, Mongolia highly values bilateral relations and co-operation with the UK and is interested in strengthening further political, social, trade and economic ties between the UK and Mongolia. Secretary Simon McDonald responded that longstanding friendly ties between the two countries will further enhance and strengthened.
Secretary of State Davaasuren visits the EBRD
Secretary of State D.Davaausren met with Frans Weekers, Executive Director of Dutch constituency in the board of Directors, representing the Netherlands, Armenia, Macedonia, Mongolia and China in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The sides exchanged views on expanding further cooperation, particularly diversifying economy and strengthening corporate governance. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from Mongolia to the United Kingdom S.Bayar and Deputy Director of EBRD Office in Mongolia U.Azjargal.
Since Mongolia’s membership in 2006, the EBRD has implemented a total of 88 projects and granted EUR 1.460 million of long-term direct investments and funds to entities in Mongolia.
Two countries are successfully cooperating within the UN
State Secretary D.Davaasuren also met with the Rt. Hon Baroness Anelay, Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Prime Minister’s Special representative on Preventing sexual violence in conflict. The Lady Baroness Anelay has praised Mongolia’s success as the beacon of democracy in the unique region with geopolitical disadvantage.
The Secretary of State D.Davaasuren has mentioned that the bilateral relations and cooperation have been successfully strengthened not only at the UN framework, but also in other platforms, including the Community of Democracies, while extended gratitude for the British vote for Mongolia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council in 2015.
"GREAT” Initiative is crucial in promoting the country
Mr. D.Davaasuren, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia met with Mr. Dan Walpol, Head of communications department of the “Great” Initiative, under the Cabinet Secretary of Great Britain, and exchanged views on the “GREAT” initiative activities and best practices. The Secretary of State has mentioned that the Mongolian government has also established a similar structure under the prime minister’s office.
Mr. D.Walpol said since his trip to Mongolia in November 2016, the Initiative has produced guidelines for Mongolia and has been communicating with the relevant department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
Mongolian delegates visit Palace of Westminster
The Lord Bowness, the member of the House of Lords of UK held a banquet for the delegates of “London Business Forum” and 13th “Forum for the Development of Mongolia” in the Palace of Westminster.
The forum, which took place in the Palace of Westminster, the parliament house, was attended by representatives of all parties in the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
