S.Leader: Economic Strength Brings Political Independence

Tehran, May 1, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that political independence as a major goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be achieved through economic independence and self-reliance. The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with exemplary workers of the industrial units. Ayatollah Khamenei was visiting production line of Darupakhsh pharmaceutical industry for eye sterile drop and injection medicines. The Supreme Leader felicitated Iranian workers on Labor Week and said that he attended the meeting to pay tribute to Iranian laborers. 'Great Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said he would kiss the hand of workers. It is a value Islam gives to labor. It is a model for all to follow.' The Supreme Leader said that work including physical, mental, scientific and administrative revitalizes the human community and gives momentum to progress and development. The Supreme Leader highlighted the value Islam gives to labor and said Islam has been honest with laborers and introduced a strong logic to appreciate labor and laborers. He said that the former socialist style of governing used to misuse labor. The Supreme Leader said that labor and capital are the two important factors for upholding national products, calling for effective measures to implement commands of Islam about labor and the laborers community. The Supreme Leader said that he has cautioned against the enemy's attempt to target national economy through different plots so far. 'God willing the great nation will mobilize its efforts to neutralize all conspiracies.' The Leader said that overcoming the enemy's economic conspiracy requires resolve of Iranian laborers community, the industrialists and the managers of the public and private sectors and every individual must prefer national products to thwart conspiracies. Ayatollah Khamenei called for coordinated measures to be taken by the government to support national products and the legislature and the Judiciary must strongly support national economy. Citing the measures to be taken by the three branches of government, the Supreme Leader said that they must empower laborers by promoting their skills and adopting proper managerial system to give a sense of security both to the laborers and industrialists. Elsewhere in his address, the Supreme Leader called for appropriate measures to fight economic sabotage in order to encourage national products and campaign against misuse of national wealth and reserves of the banks which belong to the people. The Supreme Leader said that those who take loans from the banks for investment in industry sector, but, invest the money in other businesses have committed a crime. Meanwhile, the Supreme leader attended the memorial of martyrs of laborers community and prayed to God to bestow peace upon their souls. Darupakhsh delivered the first batch of Enoxaparin injection meds to the market simultaneously with the Leader's visit to the plant./end
