Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh meets Chairman of Russian State Duma Volodin

Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2018. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin in the framework of the third meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments in Turkey.
At the meeting, Volodin said that he was pleased to meet with the parliamentary delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh, since the parliamentarians of the two countries always actively maintain the dialogue on the sidelines of various inter-parliamentary organizations.
Speaking on bilateral relations, Vyacheslav Volodin stated that they are developing dynamically.
“We are determined to develop cooperation in many aspects. In the near future a meeting of the CSTO PA will be held, where we will expect the participation of the Kyrgyz delegation. Such meetings allow us to reach a new level of diplomatic relations and cooperation in general. We must value and strengthen our relationship. We also advocate that the parliamentarians of our countries actively work through relevant committees, as they do. Such interaction is very effective,” Vyacheslav Volodin said.
Dastanbek Dzhumabekov stressed that such “meetings of speakers of Eurasian countries are becoming an important inter-parliamentary platform for exchanging opinions and developing common approaches in solving urgent problems.” He also highlighted the great contribution of the Russian side to the strengthening and development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue in the Eurasian region.
“I express hope that the annual meetings of parliamentarians of the countries of Eurasia will become a good tradition, aimed at strengthening bilateral and multilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation,” Dzhumabekov said.
He also noted that "Kyrgyzstan pursues a pragmatic, multi-vector and balanced foreign policy based on the principles of equality, mutual consideration of opinions, mutual benefit and support."
“Kyrgyzstan attaches outmost importance to the development and strengthening of comprehensive cooperation with neighboring countries and strategic partners. I would like to emphasize that Kyrgyz-Russian relations have the character of strategic partnership and alliance. The achieved level of political dialogue and mutual understanding allows the two states to effectively solve almost all issues of bilateral cooperation,” Dzhumabekov said.
The Speaker also expressed the opinion that the strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation will further strengthen and expand the entire spectrum of Kyrgyz-Russian ties, to which Kyrgyzstan attaches particular importance.
Today, there is a close relationship between the Jogorku Kenesh and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, as well as in the format of joint meetings of relevant Committees of Parliaments of the two countries.
