SPEAKER MEETS ADB VICE PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold received on Thursday a delegation led by Mr Bindu N.Lohani, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) vice president for knowledge management and sustainable development.
Mr Lohani said the ADB is closely cooperating with the regional big partners such as India and China, and underlined it is time for Mongolia to forward the intensive development of cooperation with the ADB and to bring it to a new level.
Mr Lohani said their bank can increase both investments to Mongolia and capital for implementing the biggest infrastructure projects and programmes and investment thanks to positive tendencies of Mongolia such as increases in credit rating and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. Then he proposed studying a matter on training specialists.
The Speaker thanked Mr Lohani for visiting Mongolia and said the ADB invested some one billion U.S dollar to Mongolia since the year of 1991, accounting a quarter of total loans and assistance given to Mongolia. “The ADB is still one of the biggest partners of Mongolia, and 46 projects with the ADB's soft loans are being realized in the infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, energy, finance and communication,” he noted.
Mr Enkhbold said Mongolia adopted a strategic document on the cooperation with the ADB for 2012-2016 in spheres of roads, transportation, energy, urban development and in social sectors, including health and education. He expressed a hope that the ADB will give a greater than before assistance in order to boost the cooperation in wide frames.
