SPEAKER MEETS US AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel met on Thursday Mr. Jonathan Addleton, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Mongolia who will return home soon after completion of the diplomatic mission here. The Speaker congratulated Mr. Addleton on receiving the Polar Star Order for his contributions to developing the Mongolia-USA friendly relations and cooperation in socio-economic sector on occasion of the Mongolia-USA diplomatic relations, and then wished him success at works. Mentioning about the anniversary celebrated this year, the Speaker stressed that the inter-parliamentary relations have been expanding last years and the mutual visits have been regularizing, with a achievement in the bilateral multi-lateral ties. He expressed his satisfaction with outcomes of projects and programs implemented together with the USA, and thanked the US side for co-realizing them. In response, Mr. Addleton said that his diplomatic mission in Mongolia was successful, having many good memories about Mongolia. He granted to the Speaker his book written about history of the Mongolia-USA relations, and hoped that this book contributed to studies of the bilateral relations. Saying that he respects Mongolian history, culture and tradition, Mr. Addleton also noted about the 150th anniversary of the very first travel of an American to Mongolia. The US Ambassador talked with the Speaker about an amendment to the message by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) addressed its members regarding the financing for southeastern countries of the Mediterranean Sea. Then he hoped that Mongolia will significantly contribute to developing and supporting democracy in other countries. The Speaker, in response, said that the State Great Khural will pay attention to this matter.
