SPEAKER RECEIVES PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION FROM JAPAN

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel has emphasized that the Mongolia-Japan
interparliamentary ties have been widening, and has expressed a satisfaction with a role of the Japan's legislative body especially the friendship group, in enhancing the ties.
He said it on Tuesday at a meeting with a delegation headed by Mr. S.Eda, a leader of the Japan-Mongolia friendship group at the House of Representatives of Japan's parliament.
D.Demberel said his visit to Japan paid last year in December significantly contributed to widening of the collaboration between the two parliaments. The sides' agreement to boost the relations through a principle of the strategic partnership has opened a new chapter in the inter-parliamentary ties, he said, adding that the parliaments need to implement certain measures to realize the agreements.
Noting that he gives a priority to progressive methods of the Japanese latest technologies and techniques in mineral and mining sectors, the Speaker said Mongolia attaches a great importance to the 40th anniversary of the Mongolia-Japan diplomatic relations to be marked this year. He said many actions and measures have been planned with aim to deepen the mutual understanding and confidence.
In turn, Mr. Eda said he is satisfied with the meeting with the Speaker of Mongolia, and thanked Mongolia for an assistance and support given during the natural disasters occurred last year.
Mr. Eda pointed out that Japan wants to intensify a cooperation with Mongolia in all sectors, adding Japan can collaborate also in reducing air pollution of Ulaanbaatar city. “In 1970s, we tackled this problem by the means of technical progress,” Mr. Eda said.
Emphasizing an importance of determining the cooperation's contents in order to bring the ties into a partnership level, Mr. Eda said the sides should make the inter-citizen relations closer and to enhance the collaboration and ties of parliamentarians.
Present at the meeting were Su.Batbold MP, a head of the Mongolia-Japan inter-parliamentary friendship group, and Z.Altai, L.Gantomor, Ts.Sedvanchig and D.Gankhuyag MPs.
