STANDING COMMITTEE ON BUDGET MEETS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ At a meeting on Tuesday, the parliamentary Standing committee on budget discussed the budget of the State Great Khural for 2013. The parliamentary office has adopted the 2013 budget as a sum of MNT 18.6 billion--400 million for renovation of MPs car park, 500 million--for MPs rooms repair, 800 million--for the factions, 637 million--for routine measures, 220 million--for apartments and so on. Main dispute was caused by a suggestion about reducing of a number of personal representatives of the MPs elected through the proportional system and adding it for those elected by the majority system. D.Gankhuyag and other MPs strongly underlined that the expenditure for the MP, elected by the proportional system, must be reduced because "they are not elected from constituencies", whereas Ch.Khurelbaatar and S.Byambatsogt were saying that "it would not be write to discriminate the MPs, we all must work at national level regardless of the systems we went through." Eventually, a poll was run which resulted in accepting the initial suggestion meaning that each of the proportionally elected MPs will have one personal representative, one assistant and one advisor, whereas the majority system elected ones will get three representatives and one advisor each. Having considered the budget, the MPs decided to submit its draft to the Ministry of Finance. B.Khuder
