STATE HEAD MEETS PRINCE ANDREW

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Having participated in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj has met the Prince Andrew, Duke of York, in London. Prince Andrew thanked the President for attending the opening ceremony of the Games and wished the athletes big successes. The State Head noted that Prince Andrew significantly contributed to developing of the Mongolia-Britain relations and cooperation in the trade and investment spheres. "Almost 50 years ago, our countries established the diplomatic relations, and the United Kingdom became the very first among the western countries to establish such relations with Mongolia," the President underlined. Mentioning that many investors are interested in cooperating with Mongolia in times of its intensive economic growth, the State Head said Mongolia wants to collaborate with the UK in mining, banking, finance, investments and education. A Mongolia-Britain business forum to run soon is expected to attract 200 businessmen, and this is an expression of the widening bilateral ties, he added. He hopes that an expansion of the collaboration between the London Stock Exchange and Mongolia will contribute to the economic cooperation. The President said Mongolia has started introducing the Cambridge standards in the educational sector and considered the British investments to the Mongolian higher education as the strategically important. In turn, Prince Andrew supported views of the State Head and said the British side is paying attention to augmenting investments to the educational sector and to introducing environmentally-friendly mining technologies. Then the dignitaries shared views on the legal reform in Mongolia, investments policy, distribution of mineral resources and environment protection. Mr Elbegdorj invited Prince Andrew to Mongolia.
