S.ZORIG ASSASSINATION FILES DECLASSIFIED PARTIALLY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On December 1, the Cabinet approved partial declassification of files on the 1998 assassination case of S.Zorig, the then Minister of Infrastructure and a leader of Mongolia’s Democratic Revolution. Minister of Justice and Home Affairs Ts.Nyamdorj held a press briefing this morning during a break of an irregular meeting of the Cabinet. According to the Minister, a 14,926-page document on the assassination case has been approved to be declassified, and a 74-page file related to intelligence operations remains classified. The declassified file will be transferred from the General Intelligence Agency to the archive of the either State General Prosecutor’s Office of Supreme Court. Three individuals have been charged with the murder of the late Member of Parliament and received sentences. The Minister answered a question from the press and said there was possibility to re-open of the cases of the three individuals who have been sentenced. The investigation on identification of the plotter of the assassination has been separated from the main case and will continue. Kh.Aminaa
