Telenor Group meets Thai PM

BANGKOK, May 25 (TNA) -- Executives of Telenor Group, a Norwegian telecommunications company with worldwide operations, called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House to discuss Thai telecommunications and digital development. Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said the management of Telenor Group led by its chairman Sigve Brekke met Gen Prayut at 9.30am. The prime minister thanked the group for its investment and telecom development in Thailand. The prime minister also told them that telecommunications development would enable Thailand to free itself from a middle income trap and become a digital hub. Gen Prayut viewed that the expertise of Telenor Group helped Thailand boost its cyber security and promote its small and medium-sized enterprises. He invited the group to take part in the Digital Park Thailand project under the Eastern Economic Corridor project of the government. The deputy government spokesman quoted Mr Brekke as saying that his group was ready to share its experiences and knowledge. Besides, he assured that the group would take part in the Thailand 4.0 policy of the government as it considered Thailand as a long-term partner. (TNA)
