Thailand, Russia to boost bilateral trade five times in next five years
XIAMEN, Sept 9 (TNA) – Thailand and Russia target to increase bilateral trade by five folds or US$10 billion within the next five years during the bilateral talks between the two leaders.
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is attending the BRICS summit in Xiamen, Fujian province of China from Sept 4-5 held bilateral discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The two leaders appreciated the bilateral relations and both sides agreed to expedite the process to kick off a free-trade agreement between Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The two countries agreed to set up a Thai-Russian working committee for trade and investment cooperation and Thai prime minister invited Russian private sector to invest in Thailand in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and in the fields of their expertise, including the establishment of an aviation maintenance centre in Thailand.
Gen Prayut also invited Mr Putin to pay an official visit to Thailand next year. (TNA)
