"TRANSPARENT ULAANBAATAR" ANTI-CORRUPTION FORUM APPROACHES
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the Mayor’s initiative, an international anti-corruption forum themed “Transparent Ulaanbaatar” is to be co-organized by the Office of the Mayor and International Republican Institute (IRI) with a support of the Corruption Combating Agency (CCA) of Mongolia October 6-7.
About it informed the media on Wednesday a head of the Mayor’s Office Yo.Gerelchuluun, a director of foreign relations division D.Narantsetseg and program officer of Asia Division of IRI Global Matthew J.Hays. This forum aims to forward the framework for making Ulaanbaatar a transparent city, developing anti-corruption strategies and plans on a local administration level, and to open Ulaanbaatar branch of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). The forum also plans to run experience exchanges and to receive opinions of scholars and experts.
The forum will adopt “Ulaanbaatar Declaration” and proposals of “Strategic plans of anti-corruption fight in Ulaanbaatar”.
Among the 258 invited to this action are the President, the PM, the Speaker, also directors of departments, heads of aimags and of Citizens Representative Khurals. There will be also representatives of 42 organizations from 17 countries, of Embassies and various NGOs.
As expected, some high bodies will take the floor, key lectors will be Larry Diamond, the Stanford University professor, with “Monitoring for Corruption–Institutional Innovation and Civil Society Mobilization” report, and a head of the Mayor’s Office. Sub-conferences will also run under topics "Coherence of State and Society", "Land Distribution and Properties Registration", "Procurement" and "Special License".
The contributors to this event are Asia Democracy Network, Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, Communities for Common Interests, Transparency International, World Movement for Democracy, the National Movement for Democracy, Center for International Private Enterprises.
