TS.ELBEGDORJ MEETS BUNDESTAG PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Last week, the President Ts.Elbegdorj received Mr. Norbert Lammert, the president of the Bundestag (parliament). The latter said he visited Mongolia in 2006 during the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire, adding the official visit of the German Chancellor to Mongolia paid last year was an expression of Germany's support to Mongolia. “Germany has the diplomatic relations with some 190 countries, and the Bundestag always aims to develop active ties with them. It is obvious that developing of active ties with every nation is not possible, but our ties with Mongolia are very close and friendly,” Mr. Lammert said. In response, the President thanked the government and political funds ofGermany for rendering big assistance in forming the new state, strengthening the legislative body, and in improving the political institutions in difficult times of transferring to the democratic system. Mr. Elbegdorj mentioned that Mongolia should study a lot from German court and legal reforms. Then he hoped that Germany would invest in Mongolia in terms cherishing the democracy, human rights and justice. The State Head and the Bundestag president appreciated the intensifying ties between parliaments of the two countries and parliamentary Standing committees. Noting that the parliamentarians negotiate with each other in frames of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the sides expressed a mutual satisfaction with a cooperation of the inter-parliamentary groups.
