Turkey aims to conclude new constitutional works by end of 2012

 ANKARA (A.A) - January 8, 2012 -  Turkey's parliament speaker said on Sunday that Turkey aimed to conclude efforts to write a new constitution by the end of 2012.  Cemil Cicek said he hoped to conclude constitutional efforts positively by the end of 2012. "We think we need to crown 2012 with a new constitution," Cicek said during a meeting of the Constitutional Platform, created by the non-governmental organizations.  Cicek said the government needed support of other parts of the society when writing a new constitution, and everybody should say what s/he thought before a new constitution was written and passed. Parliament Speaker Cicek hoped the constitution process would be beneficial, and 2012 would be the year of a new constitution.
