TV channel: Syrian president calls on Syrian Kurds to peace

Azerbaijan, Baku, October 21/Trend, R.Hafizoglu/ Syrian president Bashar al-Assad called on the country's Kurdish population to peace, Haber 7 TV channel reported on Monday citing the diplomatic sources in the North Iraq Regional Kurdish Administration. According to the TV channel, in exchange of armistice the Syrian president pledged to give 18 per cent of seats in the country's parliament to the Kurdish representatives. The TV channel also reported that a special delegation was sent from Syria to Northern Iraq (as Erbil is considered to be a political center of Syrian Kurds) aimed at armistice and development of relations. According to the TV channel, the head of the Kurdish Administration was invited to Damascus, but he refused this visit. During the conflict in Syria, which began in March 2011, over 115, 000 people were killed and over 4.2 million have become refugees in Syrian territory as well as two million have fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving refugees lay on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict amounted to 20 million. Do you have any feedback?
