UAE and US explore security cooperation

Abu Dhabi, March 4, 2012 (WAM) - The UAE is among the top countries in the world in terms of the use of sophisticated technology in ensuring the security of seaports and airports, a US official said. Patrick Parket, Commander of the US Coast Guards, praised the high performance of UAE sea and airport security services. He was speaking during a meeting between the Higher Committee for UAE Civil Seaports and Airports Security and a delegation of the US Coast Guards, in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Both sides explored ways of joint cooperation in the area of maritime security and the security of airports. Sultan Yaqoub Al Za'abi, executive director of the UAE committee, informed the US naval delegation on the committee's achievements and role in the implementation of all security legislation and agreements. He said the committee was carrying out its mission in line with the directives of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, to ensure that seaports and airports implemented all international conventions and security legislations. "The committee is working within the framework of its legislative and supervisory role to ensure the compliance of UAE seaports and airports with all agreements and security legislations," Al Za'abi explained. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
