UAE President Meets Pakistani PM

Islamabad, Jan 1, IRNA - Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, has met the visiting President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing the importance of bilateral strategic ties.
The UAE President arrived in Pakistan on a private visit and the PM met him at Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab Province where he is staying.
Sharif appreciated the UAE’s investment in Pakistan and progressive increase of trade between the two countries and said that it is reflective of UAE’s trust in the investor friendly environment in Pakistan, a statement from the PM office said.
He also congratulated Sheikh Khalifa for Dubai being chosen as venue for EXPO 2020 and said that it is a matter of great pride for Pakistan and would enhance the image of the whole region.
The PM said that Pakistan is in a good position to meet the future human resources needs of UAE and added that already more than 1.25 million Pakistanis working in UAE would continue to play a vital role in development of the country.
“Pakistan is desirous of further strengthening and diversifying bilateral ties in all areas of cooperation,” Sharif said.
Section of Pakistani media had earlier reported that the UAE President is likely to broker a deal between Sharif and the former president Pervez Musharraf, who is facing high treason charges. However, there had been no official confirmation of the report./end
