UAE renews support for Palestinian cause

Abu Dhabi, Feb 14, 2012 (WAM) - President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated yesterday that UAE stands by the Palestinian people in their struggle to regain their legitimate rights and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with legitimate international resolutions. This was stated while the President received yesterday, Hamas Chief and Gaza's Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and the accompanying delegation, currently on a visit to the UAE as part of a regional tour. Welcoming them at the Dhiyafa Palace in Mushrif in the presence of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President also stressed the importance of unifying the Palestinian ranks to meet the challenges faced by the Palestinian cause. Haniyeh briefed the President on the latest developments on the Palestinian arena and the efforts to achieve national reconciliation aimed at restoring Palestinian unity. Haniyeh also expressed his pride over visiting the UAE and meeting Sheikh Khalifa. He also expressed appreciation and gratitude to the noble stance of the UAE towards the Palestinian people and their just cause. He also offered thanks for the continued support extended by the UAE to the Palestinian people through humanitarian projects and charity, which had a profound impact on the hearts of the Palestinians.
