ULAANBAATAR AND AUSTRIA MAY COOPERATE IN WASTE MANAGEMENT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Governor and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul received on November 5 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Mongolia Irene Giner-Reichl along with other officials. The sides talked about waste-to-energy projects, current waste management in Ulaanbaatar, and future plans for the central heating and power system of our city. The Mayor’s action plan for 2013-2016 includes a program on improving the waste management of the city and on building at least two recycling plants, according to which 2,000-2,500 tons of garbage at Narangiin enger, Moringiin davaa and Tsagaan davaa damps are being removed with the Landfill technology. The Mayor proposed co-implementing projects on disposal of wastes such as cleaning facility sediment, food, clinical and industrial wastes, oil and agricultural waste management, and launching of waste-to-energy factories. The Ambassador supported these suggestions and expressed a readiness to collaborate with Ulaanbaatar.
