UN RESOLUTION ON MONGOLIA’S NUCLEAR-FREE STATUS ADOPTED
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The First Committee of the UN GA adopted on October 31 the draft resolution on Mongolia's International Security and Nuclear-Weapon-Free Status, presented to the 69th session of the UN GA by Mongolia. The committee adopted the draft without vote.
The committee approved of Mongolia’s efforts to forward its nuclear-free status and appealed the UN member-countries and the Secretary-General to cooperate with Mongolia in strengthening its independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, independent foreign policy, economic security, ecological balance and the nuclear-weapon-free status.
It was also appreciated that Mongolia and the P5--Russia-USA-Great Britain-China-France signed the Declarations on Mongolia's Nuclear-Weapon-Free Status in 2012.
The co-authors of the resolution were Austria, Australia, the USA, the UK, Indonesia, Ireland, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, France, Mexico, Morocco, and Montenegro.
