UPR Working Group to review UAE Human Rights record in Feb. 2013

Geneva - May 23, 2012 (WAM) - Members of UAE Standing Committee for Universal Periodic Review (UPR) participated in second cycle of 13th Working Group session of Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review to be held here from 21 May to 4 June 2012. Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Awadi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs, and head of the UAE delegation, said the meeting was important as members of the committee would get insight into new mechanisms and procedures in regards to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). He added that the 47-member Human Rights Council would review the UAE report in February 2013. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
