US praises Thailand in attempt to solve human trafficking problem

BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) -- US ambassador to Thailand Glyn T Davies has praised the Thai government of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha on its sharp improvement in solving human trafficking problem in the kingdom. The admiration was conveyed by Mr Davies during discussion with Gen Thaweep Netrniyom, secretary-general of National Security Council, on Friday at the Government House. Both men discussed plans on an official visit to the US by Gen Prayut in which he would meet with President Donald Trump, according to Mr Davies. An exact date of the visit has not been fixed yet while officials of both governments are working to find out an appropriate date of the trip, he said. Mr Davies said he had also discussed with Gen Thaweep on several other important issues including the North Korea, international terrorism and cyber security. On the ongoing Thai government tackling human trafficking problem in the country, Mr Davies said that he believed the kingdom government is seriously suppressing the problem and several senior government officials along with many culprits were apprehended. The suppression has achieved good progress and could help eliminate the problem from Thailand, he added. (TNA)
