President: The New Iraq Works To Strengthen Relations With Its Neighbors On Basis Of Mutual Respect

Baghdad / NINA /- The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, announced: "The new Iraq is working to strengthen relations with its neighbors on the basis of mutual respect."

 

 "The Coronavirus pandemic made us all suffer and taught us valuable lessons, and recovery after the pandemic should focus on a new social contract," Rashid said at the meeting of the summit-level contact group of the Non-Aligned Movement in Azerbaijan.

 

 He added, "The Iraqi government takes climate change issues seriously, and Iraq enjoys peace and security after long periods of conflicts, wars and terrorist attacks, and we must act now and give priority to supporting affected communities and raising public awareness."

 

The President of the Republic continued: "Our collective responsibility is to address the root causes of climate change through reasonable policies and the allocation of appropriate funds," indicating: "Iraq has had its share of wars and destruction that cost it many human lives, resources and reputation."

 

 He pointed out that: "meaningful solutions can only be reached through peaceful dialogues, and we must give peace all opportunities, engage in constructive dialogue, and unite efforts to eliminate violent extremism."

 

 He stressed: "Iraq is ready to restore its positive role at the regional and global levels, and looks forward to becoming a unified force for good and bridging the gap between the regional powers."

 

 He went on to say: "It is our collective duty to ensure the improvement of living standards, the promotion of peace and stability, the protection of the environment and the diversification of the economy."

 

 On the economic side, Rashid said: "Great progress has been made in the production of crude oil, and Iraq continues to invest in gas processing, refining and petrochemical industries, and Iraq has the ability to become an industrial center for petrochemicals and is able to compete globally."/ End
