Prime Minister of Mali Lauds Qatar's Support to African Countries

Doha, March 20 (QNA) - HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Mali Choguel Kokalla Maiga praised and welcomed the State of Qatar's support of African countries, especially the least developed ones, stressing that Doha's role has become prominent and has a great influence on the global political scene.
In an interview with Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq, published Monday, HE the Prime Minister of Mali called for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in a number of vital fields, such as agriculture, mining, and transport, which would create an important investment and develop a partnership between Qatar and the continent.
Regarding other areas of cooperation between his country and the State of Qatar, HE the Prime Minister of Mali said that there are many areas of cooperation, and during his meeting with Qatari officials, they discussed a number of them. For example, given that Mali has vast and very fertile areas, the two largest rivers in West Africa, a moderate climate, and a labor force, Mali proposes to the State of Qatar a partnership in agricultural production, especially since the country is a major producer in West Africa of tons of meat, dairy, and agricultural products.
If we can implement a partnership with Qatar, we will reach the production of important agricultural and food materials that will be exported to Qatar, a large number of countries in Africa, and others, HE said. This type of investment will help Mali economically and socially. There are also investment opportunities in the mining and transportation fields.
Regarding the priorities of his country's government, HE Maiga said that peace, security, and coexistence without fighting, through our national forces is our main priority. Then, we must be able to feed, shelter, care for and educate our people, and strengthen the democratic process and freedom of expression.
On Mali's elections, HE referred to the agreement on an agenda with the international community that the elections will be organized in 2024. There are negotiations with a number of international parties to develop a clear plan that is in line with the security and economic situation. The country is also progressing in combating terrorism and carrying out the necessary and urgent reforms, which are important steps preceding the elections.
At the end of his interview, His Excellency pointed out that the security situation in his country is improving with the presence of the national forces. The forces restore security to the country, and by the time is agreed upon with the international community, we believe that we will be able to organize elections to return to constitutional life. However, the stability of the country remains our first priority. (QNA)
