Qatar Charity Organizes Event for Quake-Affected Orphans in Turkiye

Doha, March 07 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) held an event for the families of orphans affected by the earthquake in Harran camp in southern Turkiye as part of Qatar Charity's global 'Rofaqa' initiative for the care of orphans and underprivileged children, to alleviate their suffering.

The ceremony was attended by Yousuf Abdulla Al Khulaifi, general supervisor of the 'Rofaqa' initiative, Mushaal Naser AlHajeri, General Supervisor of Turkiye Office, Oltan Bayraktar, Kaymakam of Akshakale, and Mehmet Asutay, Harran Education Director.

The event included many activities like recital programs and competitions. The prizes were presented to the winners of the competitions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yousuf Abdulla Al Khulaifi, general supervisor of the 'Rofaqa' initiative offered the condolences of the Qatari people and Qatar Charity to the families of the earthquake victims.

He touched on the assistance provided by Qatar Charity to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the earthquake in general and the sponsored in particular.

He said that Qatar Charity seeks to increase the number of the sponsored in Turkiye, as many children have become orphans who lost their parents in the earthquake. He announced the projects and programs, which will be implemented by Qatar Charity in Ramadan, indicating that they will include food packages, coupons, and Eid clothing.

After the celebration, Al Khulaifi visited the families of orphans affected by the earthquake in Harran camp, to assess their needs. He distributed gifts to the sponsored in the camp, which were sent by the children of Shatharat center in Qatar for those affected by the earthquake.

Qatar Charity has made an urgent intervention for the benefit of sponsored families and orphans as part of the 'Rofaqa' initiative. It managed to provide shelter to nearly 125 sponsored families since the first hours of the earthquake, meet the urgent needs of about 70 families, and cover the housing needs of 250 families for a year in Turkiye. It also provided urgent financial aid to 1,000 families for a year in Turkiye, in addition to providing health services and conducting surgeries. Some 25 wheelchairs were delivered to people with disabilities.

In Turkiye, Qatar Charity sponsors more than 6,500 people, including Turks, Syrians, and other nationalities, of whom more than 4,522 were affected by the earthquake. (QNA)
