Doha, June 04 (QNA) - In their editorials on Sunday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the tour of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, which will begin on Monday and will include Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, noting that this tour is expected to yield results that will give a strong impetus to future cooperation with these countries.
The newspapers stressed that the importance of HH the Amir's tour is growing with the increasing importance of the Central Asian region in all political, economic and commercial levels, adding that this tour opens up promising prospects for strengthening the close relations between the State of Qatar and the four countries in the heart of Central Asia.
On a different note, the newspapers also noted the strong performance and remarkable presence of Qatar Energy in the field of acquisitions and global expansion, in addition to its implementation of agreements to sell energy to a number of countries in the world, as it signed a production sharing contract with its partners TotalEnergies, Petronas, and Petrobras for the Agua-Marinha in Brazil.
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to strengthening distinguished relations with Asian countries, including the countries of Central Asia, as Qatar looks forward to strengthen current and future bridges of communication and develop friendly relations and friendship with these countries.
The newspaper considered the new tour of HH the Amir in Asia of great importance, as it draws a road map for strengthening bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the four Republics included in the tour in Central Asia, raising them to broader horizons and opening the door to more partnerships in various areas of common interest.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by stressing that HH the Amir's tour will reflect the close relations Qatar enjoys with various countries of the world thanks to the policy of openness and the wise directive of HH the Amir.
Al-Raya newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani begins a tour of a number of friendly countries in Central Asia at the invitation of their leaders. HH the Amir will commence his tour in Central Asia with a visit to Uzbekistan followed by Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, which will include a participation in the Astana International Forum, and finally Tajikistan.
The newspaper added that the talks to be held between HH the Amir and the leaders of the four countries will enhance the momentum witnessed by the relations between Doha and the capitals of these important countries in the heart of Asia, as the State of Qatar maintains constant consultation and dialogue with them to enhance international peace and security.
The newspaper concluded by saying that through direct talks between all parties, the tour will strengthen the existing cooperation and will explore new opportunities in light of the global reliability enjoyed by the State of Qatar in the economic, trade, investment and financial sectors, noting that the four countries enjoy promising potentials and natural resources if they are optimally invested, most notably in the sectors of mining, agriculture, manufacturing, hydroelectric energy and other vital fields.
Under the title "Success Story," Al-Watan newspaper said, in its editorial Sunday, that QatarEnergy recorded a strong performance and a remarkable presence in the field of acquisitions and expansion globally and in the implementation of agreements to sell energy to several countries around the world.
On Saturday, QatarEnergy, and its joint-venture partners TotalEnergies, Petrobras, and Petronas Petroleo Brasil Ltda. (PPBL) signed the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the Agua-Marinha block which was awarded to the consortium on 19 December 2022 in the 1st Cycle Permanent Offer round by Brazil's National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP), the newspaper said.
Al-Watan said that QatarEnergy celebrated the steel cutting of the first of its new generation of chartered Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) vessels to be constructed in a Korean shipyard.
QatarEnergy joined Samsung Heavy Industries and JP Morgan Asset Management in a special ceremony on Geoje Island in the Republic of Korea to celebrate this milestone, which is part of QatarEnergy's historic LNG Fleet Expansion Project, the newspaper added.
Al-Watan affirmed that QatarEnergy was able to strengthen its position in the LNG industry, and by announcing an increase in production to about 126 million tons annually, it continues to lead in the gas scene for many years to come.
In conclusion, Al-Watan said that these achievements reflect a real success story, which expresses the confidence of customers and actors in the energy sector in the world, thanks to the sound approach and high professionalism that it enjoyed since its inception and the sound negotiations that led to obtaining contracts and arrangements that are the best in the region, which contributed to the presence of QatarEnergy on the international energy arena.
In turn, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula indicated that the State of Qatar, which has a rich history in organizing world-class sports events, is set to take the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy forward, maintaining its status as the world’s sports hub by continue to host major competitions, pointing in this regard to the State of Qatar hosting July’s Volleyball Challenger Cup 2023.
The newspaper said in its editorial entitled "Moving Forward the Legacy of the World Cup" that since the hosting of the historic Qatar 2022, Qatar has received the hosting of major events that includes the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2027, adding that the country is scheduled to host several important sporting events this year, including motorsports competitions.
The Peninsula added that Qatar will remain the top spot for fans next year with the country gearing up to host the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to be staged from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10, 2024, indicating that the event will bring back the memories of Qatar 2022 dubbed the best ever World Cup, as six World Cup stadiums will be used for the Asian Cup games.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by pointing out that Qatar will also be home to globe’s best athletes at the 21st FINA World Championships Doha 2024 in February. (QNA)
