Doha, June 20 (QNA) - In their Tuesday editorials, Qatari newspapers highlighted HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's announcement of Qatar's pledge of USD 50 million to support efforts of humanitarian response plan in Sudan and the regional plan for refugees, during the State of Qatar's speech delivered by His Excellency via video conferencing on Monday in the high-level pledging conference to support the humanitarian response in Sudan and the region.
The newspapers emphasized that the State of Qatar's response comes from Qatar's fraternal responsibility and moral and humanitarian duty towards its brothers in Sudan, and His Excellency's participation in this conference reflects Qatar's keenness to make the conference a success, as well as Qatar's unlimited standing by the brotherly Sudanese people in their current ordeal. Which caused countless pain and problems.
Al Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani announced the State of Qatar's pledge of USD 50 million to support the efforts of the response plan in Sudan and the regional plan for refugees, based on Qatar's fraternal responsibility, and its moral and humanitarian duty towards the brothers in Sudan, and as a continuation of its ongoing humanitarian and development efforts in brotherly Sudan.
The newspaper pointed out that Qatari support to the brothers in Sudan has not stopped since the outbreak of clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. The State has operated an air bridge for medical, relief and humanitarian aid to those affected. The total aid amounted to 301 tons, in addition to evacuating 1,784 of holders of Qatari residency.
Based on its humanitarian and moral role and commitment to its responsibility as an active partner in the international community, the State of Qatar is always keen to play a leading role in providing humanitarian and development assistance. In this context, it continues its generous giving and unremitting efforts in supporting the containment of crises in brotherly and friendly countries, and extending a helping hand to peoples without exception and without discrimination or in return, but it seeks to alleviate the suffering of those affected by crises of all kinds around the world, and to operate air bridges to transport hundreds or even thousands of tons of relief aid, in response to emergency and urgent conditions that require it, the paper added.
The State of Qatar will spare no effort to stand by the brotherly Sudanese people until they overcome this crisis. It has affirmed its firm position to support the unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of brotherly Sudan, rejecting any form of interference in its internal affairs, and maintaining full respect for the choices of his people in freedom, peace, justice and prosperity, Al-Sharq concluded.
Under the title "Support that did not stop", Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that the financial pledge from the State of Qatar to support the humanitarian response plan in Sudan and the region, which was announced at the conclusion of the high-level conference to announce pledges yesterday, was not the first thing that Qatar offered to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people in the face of the crisis they have been going through since last April 15. Qatar was one of the first countries to initiate an urgent relief campaign in response to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Sudan, and it hastened to launch an urgent air bridge, in which it provided since the beginning of the fighting 301 tons of food and medical aid, and 1,784 people of Qatari residency holders were evacuated.
The paper added that the participation of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in the conference via visual communication technology, reflects Qatar's keenness to make the conference a success, and its unlimited support to the brotherly Sudanese people in their current ordeal which caused countless pain and problems.
The humanitarian work of the State of Qatar records a remarkable and effective presence within the global humanitarian work. It is a moral commitment through which Qatar has always worked to support needy countries across the world, through its humanitarian institutions which have never failed to play their role, Al-Watan stressed.
Since the outbreak of the current crisis in Sudan, Qatar has communicated with the relevant international humanitarian organizations, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of the Red Cross, in order to coordinate and identify the humanitarian needs in Sudan, and secure the necessary humanitarian corridors, the paper said.
In its editorial entitled "Continuous Qatari Support to the Sudanese People," Al-Raya newspaper said that Qatar has been actively engaging diplomatically and providing humanitarian assistance since the beginning of the crisis in Sudan, in order to stop the bloodshed and support the resilience of the Sudanese people in the face of the grave humanitarian situation resulted by the conflict.
Since the early moments of the outbreak of the conflict, Qatar called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to all armed manifestations. It emphasized the need for a political solution through dialogue, reaffirming its commitment to the unity of Sudan, the integrity of its territories, and its absolute sovereignty. In parallel, Qatar launched an air bridge to deliver aid and evacuate holders of Qatari residency, the newspaper said.
Qatar co-chaired the High-level Pledging Event to Support Humanitarian Response in Sudan and the Region in Geneva. During the meeting, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani announced Qatar's pledge to provide $50 million to support efforts of humanitarian response plan in Sudan and
the regional plan for refugees, stemming from Qatar’s fraternal responsibility, moral and humanitarian duty towards brothers in Sudan and in continuation of its constant humanitarian and development efforts in the sisterly Sudan, Al-Raya noted.
Qatar will spare no effort in standing by the brotherly Sudanese people until they overcome this crisis, based on its belief in the unity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the sisterly Sudan, and its rejection of any forms of interference in Sudan’s internal affairs, and its full respect of its people’s options in freedom, peace, justice and prosperity, the newspaper added.
At the end of its editorial, Al-Raya emphasized that the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan requires urgent response and sufficient funding. Qatar urges the international community not to abandon Sudan in such challenging circumstances. It called upon the world to stand by Sudan until it emerges stronger from its ordeal by bridging the funding gap in the humanitarian response plan and the regional plan for refugees. It is necessary to provide sufficient commitments and donations and fulfill them as quickly as possible in order to address the crisis, contain it completely, and alleviate the severe impacts suffered by those affected by the conflict and the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
For its part, The Peninsula newspaper highlighted Qatar's efforts to support the humanitarian response plan in Sudan amid the ongoing crisis in the country. It noted that the international community, including Qatar, have constantly called on the conflicting parties to reach lasting peace to prevent unnecessary loss of lives and destruction of infrastructure.
The newspaper said in its editorial titled "Qatar leads peace efforts for Sudan" that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani announced that Qatar pledged to provide $50 million to support efforts of the humanitarian response plan in Sudan and the regional plan for refugees during the high-level pledging initiative to support the humanitarian response in Sudan and the region.
Qatar has operated an air bridge to deliver about 318 tones of aid. It has also evacuated 1,784 people through the efforts of some institutions in Qatar, like the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Public Health, Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar Charity, and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), The Peninsula noted.
