Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, March 11 (QNA) - In their editorials issued today, Qatari newspapers highlighted the importance of the joint trilateral statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran and China regarding the resumption of diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tehran, stressing that this step constitutes a great gain for the security and stability of the region and a real victory for the principles of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving disputes peacefully, after marathon negotiations. During the past two years, the efforts appreciated by the Sultanate of Oman and Iraq for hosting the previous rounds of dialogue, as well as China's efforts in hosting the recent talks. The newspapers also shed light on the rapid and welcoming Qatari reaction to the statement issued by Saudi Arabia, Iran and China to resume diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tehran, through two phone calls made yesterday by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Iran. They noted that the position of the State of Qatar reflects its permanent support for resolving all disputes, regardless of their complexity, through dialogue and diplomacy as a fundamental pillar of its foreign policy and the best way to ensure the security and stability of the peoples of the world. In this context, Al-Raya newspaper stressed the growing importance of resuming Saudi-Iranian relations through dialogue and negotiation in light of the widespread turmoil the world is experiencing today, the repercussions of which have affected many peoples due to the war raging between Russia and Ukraine for more than a year. The paper added that the Saudi-Iranian agreement confirms that nothing is impossible in the world of politics as long as there is a strong will and sincere desire to move forward on the path of reconciliation and finding solutions, with the Riyadh and Tehran agreement to resume diplomatic relations, reopen their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months, and activate the security cooperation agreement between them and the general agreement for cooperation in the field of economy, trade, investment, technology, science, culture, sports and youth. 
Al-Sharq newspaper meanwhile said there was warm welcome to the agreement, reflecting the importance of the move that will help enhance regional cooperation and promote peace and development in the region. The paper also highlighted the State of Qatar's position welcoming the agreement, in two phone calls made by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran. The paper added that the State of Qatar, which has been calling for resolving disputes in the region through dialogue, based on the fact that the strategic importance of the Gulf region makes achieving stability in it a regional and international need, looks forward to this important step contributing to strengthening security and stability in the region, and meeting the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries, including It will benefit all the peoples of the region. Meanwhile The Peninsula focused in its editorial on the State of Qatar's investment in cybersecurity. The paper said that, in 2013, Qatar established the National Cyber Security Committee to address the cyber agenda at the national level and to ensure that all public and private entities are adopting the right agenda. It also noted that Qatar has also developed a National Cyber Security Strategy. The objectives of the strategy include safeguarding the nation’s critical information infrastructure, responding to and recover from cyber attacks, establishing a legal framework and regulations to establish a safe and secure cyberspace, fostering a culture of cyber security that pro-motes safe and appropriate use of cyberspace and enhances the national cyber security capabilities.
