Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, March 18 (QNA) - In its editorials today, Qatari newspapers highlighted a number of various topics, foremost of which is the participation of the State of Qatar in the work of the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held in Mauritania's capital, Nouakchott, and the positive role of the State of Qatar in providing humanitarian and relief support to all peoples of the world and advocating just causes for the Arab and Islamic nations.
The Qatari newspapers shed light on the ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, which have not subsided since the beginning of this year, calling on the international community to stop making a few statements calling for calm and pressing for a just settlement of the Palestinian cause.
Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial today that Qatar continues its positive role as a benevolent energy for the peoples based on the principles and original Arab and Islamic values that support the most vulnerable and needy peoples, and help those afflicted by human conflicts and natural disasters.
The newspaper drew attention to Qatar's assertions, during its participation in the work of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on the importance of giving priority to assisting developing countries, foremost of which are the Islamic countries, in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development, as they are the key to political and social stability and prosperity.
The newspaper added, "The latest Qatari efforts to support the people stand out in their solidarity with the brothers in Turkey and Syria, who are still suffering from the effects of the earthquake disaster, noting that the State of Qatar has provided urgent humanitarian and relief assistance, and continues to support them in order to overcome the effects of this humanitarian disaster".
The newspaper also noted Qatar's firm positions in supporting the just causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, which Doha preserves from oblivion, and gives it priority on all regional and international platforms in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to live in an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the decisions of international legitimacy.
In the same context, Al-Sharq newspaper said that Qatar's participation in the work of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation stems from its belief in the importance of the role played by the Organization of the Islamic Conference in addressing and defending the issues and concerns of the Islamic nation.
Al-Sharq added in its editorial that the meeting of the OIC foreign ministers comes in light of the many challenges facing the Islamic nation and important files topped by the Palestinian cause, in addition to the continuous efforts in combating violent extremism and terrorism, and the phenomenon of Islamophobia, as well as many issues such as the situation in Mali and the Sahel region and recent developments concerning the Afghan issue and the situation of Muslim minorities and communities in non-member countries of the organization and others.
For its part, The Peninsula said in its editorial today that Qatar launched a number of innovative initiatives in recent years to enhance food security. Along with promoting production of vegetables, the country also strengthened supply chain network and enhanced storage capabilities. The National Food Security Strategy of Qatar (2018-2023) aimed at achieving an abundance of food through local production, strategic storage and securing import sources and keeping food prices appropriate and accessible to all.
The Peninsula added that now Qatar is set to launch new food security strategy by next month that will "focus on producing agricultural produce during summer" by adopting advanced technologies and providing support to farmers as per their needs. Qatar National Food Security Strategy 2023-30 is expected to be launched by the end of April, 2023. The new strategy is based on three axis – maintaining the achievements which were made during the previous strategy, completing the remaining goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and sustainability by conservation of natural resources.
The newspaper pointed out that the new strategy will focus on producing vegetables during summer by adopting modern farming techniques and providing agricultural support to farmers according to their needs. The support will be provided as per the need of farmers like inputs, building capacity and services to reduce the operational cost of farms.
Titled "International Deficit", Al-Watan newspaper considered in its editorial today that the daily Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, including killing, displacement and land confiscation, constitute an all-out war against the Palestinian presence aimed at abolishing the existence of this people and preventing them from their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on their national soil.
The newspaper pointed out that expressions of denunciation are no longer sufficient to curb the ongoing Israeli aggression against this people, and they are also ineffective in terms of forcing the occupier to recognize Palestinian rights and move towards implementing them.
Al-Watan added, "It is unfortunate that all that the international community is doing is making a few statements calling for calm, which must stop, giving way to serious, effective and responsible pressure aimed at pushing for a just settlement that alone will put an end to what we are witnessing."
The newspaper considered that what the occupied West Bank and its camps are exposed to is clear evidence of the bloody right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu and its continuing terrorist program. (QNA)
