Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, March 27 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers published Monday highlighted the occupation authorities' violation of international legitimacy resolutions through the expansion of settlements and theft of land in parallel with the systematic targeting, harassment, killing, displacement and arbitrary arrest of Palestinians.
The newspapers unanimously agreed that the Israeli entity is continuing its crimes day after day, and perhaps the latest episode of its series of crimes against the Palestinian people is the approval of a law allowing the return to four settlements in the West Bank.
In their editorials, the newspapers hailed the State of Qatar's condemnation of the occupation authorities' approval of the law and its continuous condemnation of the Israeli measures, including Israeli Finance Minister's statements calling to erase the Palestinian town of Huwara from existence, as well as his statements that deny the reality of the existence of the Palestinian people.
The papers also underlined Qatar's warnings of the repercussions of the policy of fait accompli pursued by the occupation forces, which aims to strip Palestinian rights guaranteed by international law, and undermines international efforts to implement the two-state solution.
Under the headline "The First Arab Cause", Al-Watan daily referred to the joint message sent by GCC Foreign Ministers to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in which they expressed condemnation of the Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich's statements in which he called for the removal of the Palestinian town of Huwara from existence, and denied the existence of the Palestinian people.
The paper indicated that the message has several implications, as it affirms that the United States is the party capable of curbing the Israeli aggressions in all its forms, and it is the party that can push for a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict based on the principles of international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, including the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The paper also said that the other important indication is to recall that the Palestinian cause is the first cause of Arabs and Muslims, by stressing what was stated in the closing statement of the 155th session of the GCC Ministerial Council that was held on March 22, 2023, regarding the GCC's support for the sovereignty of the Palestinian people over all the Palestinian territories occupied since June 1967, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, guaranteeing all the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and rejecting settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that the entire world understands that resolving the existing conflict with Israel and granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights will only be achieved when the United States exerts effective pressure that alone would push for a comprehensive solution to this conflict, based on the two-state solution, which Washington has always expressed its support for.
Meanwhile, Al-Sharq newspaper said that the continuous Israeli measures, decisions, statements and violations against the Palestinian people, which are taking an escalating trend every day, have begun to raise a wave of great concern about its consequences, including the settlement policy and the crimes committed in Jenin, Nablus, and many other towns, which claimed the lives of a number of Palestinians and wounded dozens, the demolition of homes and the destruction of property, the violation of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the targeting of the Palestinian presence in the city of Jerusalem, as well as the attempts to change the legal status and demographic composition of Jerusalem.
The paper explained that there is no explanation for the escalating attacks in the holy month of Ramadan by the occupation army and settlers, and the decisions and statements of Israeli officials, except that it is an attempt by the Israeli occupation government to drag the region into a square of violence, by escalating its war against the Palestinian people through killing, settlement, burning, extermination, and incursions into sanctities.
The daily drew attention to Qatar's condemnation of the occupation authorities' approval of a law allowing the return to four settlements in the West Bank, and its continuous condemnation of the Israeli measures, including Israeli Finance Minister's statements calling to erase the Palestinian town of Huwara from existence, as well as his statements that deny the reality of the existence of the Palestinian people. The paper also underlined Qatar's warnings of the repercussions of the policy of fait accompli pursued by the occupation forces, which aims to strip Palestinian rights guaranteed by international law, and undermines international efforts to implement the two-state solution.
The paper pointed out that this condemnation represents a wake-up call for the international community to assume its responsibilities in curbing the dangerous Israeli escalation, as well as obliging the Israeli government to stop its settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories, which is a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, the principles of international law, and relevant United Nations resolutions, and a blatant attack on the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
In conclusion, Al-Sharq called on the international community to confront the occupation government and put pressure on it to stop these escalating attacks during the holy month of Ramadan, the latest of which was the storming of the Al-Qibli prayer hall in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the attack on worshipers, which threatens to ignite a religious war.

Under the title "Qatar Rejects Evasions of Israeli Occupation", Al-Raya newspaper said that as usual, the Israeli occupation authorities continue to evade all legal obligations and violate the resolutions of international legitimacy through expansion of settlements, continuous harassment and targeting Palestinians by killing, displacement and arbitrary arrest.
The latest episode of the series of crimes against the Palestinian people is the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval of a law allowing the return to four settlements in the West Bank, which was strongly condemned by the State of Qatar, as it considered this step a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, the principles of international law, and relevant UN resolutions, as well as a blatant violation against the rights of the Palestinian people, the newspaper noted.
Al-Raya highlighted the State of Qatar's call, through the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to oblige Israel to stop its settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories. It also reiterated Qatar's firm stance on the just Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The newspaper pointed out that the State of Qatar always stands on the side of the Palestinian people, as it harnessed its diplomacy to defend their just causes in the face of the crimes of the occupation.
At the end of its comment, Al-Raya called on the international community to force Israel to comply with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
For its part, The Peninsula newspaper praised the efforts of the State of Qatar to prevent food waste, as preventing food waste is among Qatar’s top priorities and the country has incorporated this goal in its national food security programme. Government agencies have also taken a number of measures to reduce this phenomenon.
The newspaper said in its editorial titled "Preventing food wastage" that the Social organisations have also come forward with nationwide campaigns. Hifz Al Naema Centre is one such organisation. It collects surplus food not consumed and distributes it among people who need it through distribution sites around the country.
The Ministry of Municipality launched a survey last year to develop a national food waste baseline in the country. The Food Security Department at the ministry in cooperation with the UNEP implemented the first phase of the study to establish the baseline with the aim of formulating appropriate policies and raising awareness on the wastage of food, The Peninsula added.
The newspaper concluded by saying that a ministerial decision was issued in 2021 making it mandatory for all entities to sort out their wastes into organic and solid. The  sorting out of wastes at the source helps in knowing the quantity of wastage and track the reason for wasting organic products (food items). The initiative helps in recycling organic wastes into other products like fodders and fertilizers. (QNA)
