Doha, April 19 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers dealt with many topics in their editorials on Wednesday, whether at the local, Arab or international levels. It emphasized that the issue of employment comes at the top of the government's concerns, and to this end, it presented many initiatives to facilitate the employment of young Qataris looking for work according to their qualifications and capabilities in order to benefit from them in achieving sustainable development in the country, as well as supporting national efforts in Qatarization of jobs, not only in the government sector, but also in the private sector.
In another issue, the newspapers praised the strenuous diplomatic and political efforts made by the State of Qatar over many years, within the framework of facilitating negotiations between local and international parties to end the war in Afghanistan, which resulted in reaching the joint declaration between the United States of America and the Taliban; To bring about historic peace in Afghanistan after arduous years of war and fighting.
Under the title "Employment of citizens is at the top of the government's concerns", Al-Raya newspaper considered that the issue of employment comes at the top of the government's concerns, to this end, many initiatives have been introduced to facilitate the employment of young Qataris looking for work according to their qualifications and abilities, in order to benefit from them in achieving sustainable development in the country, as well as supporting national efforts in Qatarization of jobs, not only in the government sector, but also in the private sector, by paving the way for Qatari youth to serve the country and harness their creative energies for the advancement of Qatar.
The newspaper pointed to a joint report issued by the Ministry of Labor and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, on providing 1,189 jobs in the public and private sectors during the first quarter of this year, distributed equally between males and females, and the figures showed that 939 job seekers were appointed, including 490 males (52 percent) and 449 females (48 percent), in the government sector, and 250 were appointed in the private sector, of whom 148 were females and 102 males.
Al-Raya stated that the government's achievement cannot be limited to providing 1,189 jobs in the public and private sectors during the first quarter of this year, rather, it goes beyond launching pioneering initiatives and making improvements to enhance the mechanisms of searching for employment opportunities for citizens.
The newspaper concluded by saying that he Ministry of Labor has worked on several projects aimed at improving employment opportunities and localizing them in the public and private sectors, the most recent of which was the launch of the guide for describing and classifying occupations in the private sector, which reflects the state’s approach to governance and the use of technology in order to serve the people of Qatar, especially the job-seeking youth sector, so that the proposed jobs would be more sensitive to educational qualifications and more appropriate to their aspirations.
In another context, under the title "Qatar is committed to helping the Afghan people," Al-Sharq newspaper said that the State of Qatar has made strenuous diplomatic and political efforts over many years, within the framework of facilitating negotiations between local and international parties to end the war in Afghanistan, which resulted in reaching the joint declaration between the United States of America and the Taliban movement; To bring about historic peace in Afghanistan after arduous years of war and fighting.
The newspaper indicated that Qatari diplomacy facilitated one of the largest evacuations in modern history. It has evacuated 80,000 people and provided them with support in Doha during their temporary stay, including shelter and health care.
Al-Sharq considered that the State of Qatar has been providing urgent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan over the past years, including foodstuffs, via an air bridge from Qatar to Kabul, hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid were transported, pointing out that a Qatari plane carrying humanitarian assistance has arrived in Afghanistan yesterday. Provided by Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society, the aid includes about 60 tons of educational materials intended for the education sector, as well as humanitarian and food aid.
Al-Sharq stressed that this assistance comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's endeavors and its firm commitment to provide support and stand by the brotherly Afghan people and to provide them with the urgent necessary needs. The State of Qatar has recently hosted talks on the future of education in Afghanistan and the challenges and obstacles facing it, with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Education Above All Foundation, the Afghan Ministry of Education, UNICEF and Education Cannot Wait. Participants in these talks agreed on the need to guarantee the right to education for all, to develop a common vision that deals with the challenges, and to provide high-quality educational opportunities for all Afghan students in all regions.
The newspaper stressed, at the end of its comment that Afghanistan continues to face a serious economic and humanitarian crisis in light of a caretaker government that is unable to confront the challenges facing the country, which deepens the crisis and prevents the country from moving towards achieving development and providing a decent life for the benefit of the Afghan people, which necessitates the availability of international efforts to advance the Afghan people and enable them to overcome the crisis.

For its part, and under the title "Long War", Al-Watan newspaper said that on the fourth day of the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, a tone of pessimism emerged regarding the possibilities of mediation to stop the fighting, as the UN envoy to Sudan, Volker Peretz, ruled out that the two fighting parties wanted to mediate for a permanent ceasefire.
The newspaper pointed out that in a summary he submitted to the UN Security Council, Peretz said that the regional parties, especially IGAD, offered to mediate between the two sides, noting that the United Nations is cooperating very closely with IGAD, the African Union and the tripartite mechanism, in addition to other countries in the region and the League of Arab States, but he added that there are difficulties in reaching Sudan, "and the mediators will not easily be able to come here, and to be very honest, the two warring sides do not give the impression that they want to mediate for peace between them now, but rather they are asking the other side to surrender.
Al-Watan considered that this is a war that may be long, and may take on ethnic and tribal dimensions that make stopping it a very difficult issue, in addition to what what can be witnessed in the future of external interference, depending on the conflicting positions of those interested in Sudanese affairs. This means that Sudan may be on the verge of a long and devastating war, for which the Sudanese people will pay the greatest price, mainly because of the fragile humanitarian situation, and the difficulty of providing aid in the current circumstances, especially after targeting the headquarters of a number of UN agencies during the past few hours.
At the end of its comment, the newspaper stressed that allowing the entry of aid and opening paths for the movement of civilians and the transfer of the wounded is very important, in addition to the intense mediation activity.
On its part, The English-language newspaper The Peninsula, in its editorial titled "Making Farms More Competitive", highlighted the State of Qatar's promotion of local agricultural efforts to achieve food security and sustainability.
The newspaper added that the authorities have over the years introduced many measures to help the local farms to increase their production in a sustainable manner by introducing the latest farming technology and global practices. They also facilitate the sales and marketing of the goods produced locally by tying up with various sales outlets thus bringing it closer to the consumer.
The Peninsula pointed out that world over, the farm-to-table concept is gaining popularity, in which the consumers buy the produce from the neighbourhood markets where goods from the local farms are sold thus facilitating the farmers to get better returns for their efforts at the same time providing fresh products for the consumers.
It concluded by saying that the main challenges for local products to compete with imported goods are quality and price. The local farms have already proven their worth when it comes to quality as con-sumers vouch for their freshness and taste. To make the price more competitive and to give a price advantage authorities are planning to introduce many new measures as part of the Qatar National Food Security Strategy 2023-30. (QNA)
