Doha, May 21 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers underlined in their editorials on Sunday that storming and vandalism of the Qatari embassy's building in Khartoum by irregular armed forces constitute a flagrant violation of international law and conventions, diplomatic norms, and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations which guarantees the protection of diplomats and the sanctity and safety of the headquarters of diplomatic missions and representations.
The Qatari dailies noted in their editorials the successive condemnations of this act and all forms of violence and vandalism targeting headquarters and buildings of diplomatic missions; expressing the hope that the Sudanese talks in Jeddah achieve a breakthrough that puts an end to the cycle of violence, gives priority to the public interest, and spares civilians the consequences of fighting.
Al-Watan said that irregular armed forces stormed and vandalized the Qatari embassy's building in Khartoum, as well as several other embassies, which is totally unacceptable because embassies, diplomatic missions, and headquarters of international organizations are protected under international law and international agreements.

Everyone is hanging hope on the Sudanese talks in Jeddah to reach a breakthrough that puts an end to the cycle of violence by pushing for maximum restraint, resorting to the voice of reason, giving priority to the public interest, and reaching a comprehensive truce that is respected and implemented by all as a necessary step that paves the way for constructive dialogue, which alone would put an end to the cycle of violence and fighting, Al-Watan concluded.
Meanwhile, Qatari daily Al-Sharq said that the storming and vandalism of the Qatari embassy's building in Khartoum constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and conventions, diplomatic norms, and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations which guarantees the protection of diplomats and the sanctity and safety of the headquarters of diplomatic missions and representations.
The paper indicated that the attack was met with a wide wave of condemnation and denunciation by GCC and Arab countries, and a strong rejection of all forms of violence and sabotage against diplomatic missions and representations, especially with the repeated targeting of diplomatic missions and their buildings in Khartoum recently.
