Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, May 22 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers touched upon several topics, most prominently, the launch of the third 'Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg', under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Tuesday, in the presence of more than 2,000 global and Qatari business leaders.
The newspapers also addressed the State of Qatar's assertion that Israeli's far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's storming of the courtyards of Al Aqsa Mosque is a flagrant violation of international law and of the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, condemning the Israeli entity for the reoccurring violations against occupied territories, especially in East Jerusalem, and its attempts to achieve political gains at the expense of Palestinians.
Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that the Qatar Economic Forum looks forward to the prospects for global economic transformations. This year's edition sheds light on the latest trends in the finance, energy, health care, and technology fields and their evolving role in development. It is also an opportunity to exchange ideas and views among experts from around the world to identify the latest economic trends.
The forum, attended by more than 50 regional and international speakers made up of government leaders, CEOs, global investors, and influential voices, embodies Qatar's firm commitment to contribute to shaping the future of economic development, enhancing its active and influential role in the global economy, and its keenness to open space for dynamic global discussions on the importance of cooperation and communication to enhance economic opportunities and face global challenges, Al-Sharq added.
The forum remains committed to highlighting the latest trends and technologies that are defining the next stages of economic development, as well as the major global challenges facing international leaders, the paper highlighted.
Al-Sharq concluded that with the participation of 2,000 global and Qatari leaders, the forum is a vital platform for exchanging ideas and dialogue on the most important global issues, covering all pillars of the economy, whether in trade, energy, investment, technology, consumers, or the geopolitical turmoil and its complex effects.
In another matter, Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that the far-right Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, stormed the courtyards of Al Aqsa Mosque once again, a heinous crime, an assault on Islamic sanctities and places of worship, and a condemned provocative step that is a flagrant violation of international law
The newspaper called for an urgent UN intervention to compel the occupation authority to immediately stop all practices and violations against the mosque and to stop all measures aimed at changing its status quo and imposing temporal and spatial division.
Itamar Ben-Gvir has always been a face and a symbol of hateful racism. In previous years, he was accused of inciting violence and adopting hate speech more than 50 times. He continues his criminal approach without any regard for the possible consequences of the racist moves he makes, the paper added.
In its conclusion, Al-Watan warned that harming Al-Aqsa Mosque is playing with fire. Ben-Gvir's attempts and his likes of extremists to change the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque will only widen the circle of violence. The international community must play its role and stop Israeli persistence through clear and decisive stances and measures.

Qatari daily Al-Raya noted in its editorial Qatar's condemnation of the Israeli occupation's continued provocative practices in the Palestinian occupied territories, especially in East Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine, and its Islamic and Christian sanctities, referring to the Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's storming of the courtyards of Al Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Raya noted that the attempts of the occupation leaders to achieve political gains at the expense of the Palestinians proved to be a failure especially after the utter failure of their recent aggression against Gaza. The occupation government failed to break the strong will and resistance of the Palestinians who stood firm in the face of the aggression. Once again, the occupation government lost the round and faced the rising anger of its people.
In its statement, the State of Qatar affirmed storming Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and of the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem; warning that the attempts to harm the religious and historical status of Al Aqsa Mosque are not only an attack on the Palestinians, but also on millions of Muslims around the world, the paper noted.
Al Raya called for urgent intervention to stop such attacks because the occupation entity steps up its crimes against the Palestinians as a result of the international silence.
On the other hand, English daily The Peninsula noted the relations between Qatar and Somalia, saying that the two nations have distinguished and solid relations in many fields, including economic, investment and development cooperation.
Under its editorial titled "Qatar-Somalia Ties", The Peninsula said that Qatar’s development projects in Somalia aim at improving the lives of Somali people. These projects have contributed greatly to the local economy and the development of infrastructure in the country.
The paper pointed to the recent visit of HE President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Qatar, and his talks with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani which focused several issues of concern to both sides, especially those related to developing bilateral relations and supporting the Somali government in its efforts to enhance security and stability.
The paper underlined that Qatar has been the primary partner of Somali state and institutions in their efforts to revive and rebuild the Somali state; and Somalia seeks Qatari investments in many sectors to set up projects that can support development in the country and create job opportunities for the youth.
