Doha, June 13 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers on Tuesday highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's patronage of the 32nd Doha International Book Fair which was opened by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani on Monday, consolidating further Qatar's status as a beacon of culture, thought and knowledge.
The Qatari dailies hailed the pioneering cultural, knowledge and scientific position of the State of Qatar at the regional and international levels under the wise leadership which seeks to localize knowledge in Qatar; pointing to the record participation in Doha Book Fair.
In its editorial entitled "Doha Book Fair... Cultural Beacon that Enhances Qatar's Position", Al-Sharq said: Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani opened the 32nd Doha International Book Fair under the slogan "With Reading We Rise".
The prominent cultural event comes after Qatar's hosting of the World Cup with all its cultural dimensions, to add to Qatar's cultural and civilizational achievements new dimensions that Doha is keen to consolidate, Al-Sharq stressed.
The paper pointed to the assertion of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs that the State of Qatar has always sought to make Doha Book Fair a space that brings together writers, intellectuals and readers, to promote the national cultural movement and the country's position in the global cultural community. The Fair which brings together more than 500 publishers from 37 countries has a cultural momentum and include many events. The main stage hosts 37 cultural, scientific, literary and social seminars, in addition to poetry evenings, while the Cultural Salon hosts up to 116 events, including seminars, cultural sessions, and the launch of new publications.
A total of 48 workshops and 87 performances will be held on the sidelines of Doha Book Fair, making the event a cultural beacon in Qatar and the region, Al-Sharq added, noting that choosing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be the guest of honor of this year's edition is another occasion to strengthen the fraternal ties that unite the two brotherly countries.
Under the headline "Cultural Renaissance", Al-Watan said that culture has always been a priority for Qatar as it was and still a beacon of enlightenment, a tool for advancement and progress, and a major factor in establishing the national identity.
Culture has always received a great and continuous attention because it includes beliefs, knowledge, morals, art, traditions and everything that a person acquires as a member of society. The activities of the 32nd Doha International Book Fair brings together more than 500 direct publishers from 37 countries, consolidating further the cultural status of Qatar and affirming the pivotal role of knowledge in the renaissance of the Qatari society, Al-Watan said.
Doha Book Fair will present a rich and varied cultural program. The main theater will host 37 cultural, scientific, literary and social seminars, in addition to poetry evenings, in addition to the activities of the Cultural Salon which will host up to 116 events, including seminars, cultural sessions and the launch of new publications, Al-Watan added.
In conclusion, Al-Watan praised the important role carried out by the Ministry of Culture to promote the cultural movement and provide it with all factors of success.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani opened the 32nd Doha International Book Fair under the slogan "With Reading We Rise" at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center and was briefed on the exhibits of the participating Qatari, Arab and foreign publishing houses, as well as the latest publications, books, and manuscripts of government agencies, Arab and international cultural institutions and the embassies accredited to the country, especially the pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the guest of honor of this year's edition.
Doha, overflowing with culture and creativity, is hosting this year's book fair with record participation in terms of the number of publishers and participating countries. More than 500 direct publishers from 37 countries participated. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the State of Qatar occupies a leading cultural, knowledge, and scientific position regionally and globally.
The newspaper believed that culture enjoys the high patronage of the wise leadership that seeks to localize knowledge in Qatar, which has become a beacon of science and creativity and continues its benevolent efforts in spreading culture and knowledge.
Al-Raya indicated that this year's book fair aims to consolidate the status of culture in the country and affirm the pivotal role of knowledge in the renaissance of Qatari society. Qatar, the trustee of Arab and Islamic culture, believes that reading is the light of knowledge for people, as societies and nations can only rise through reading and culture.
In conclusion, Al-Raya said that Qatar strives to instill cultural values in society through qualitative initiatives throughout the year to become an oasis and a beacon of abundant human culture, is always keen on the perpetuation of the cultural scene in Qatar, the region, and the world, and has striven to present a diverse cultural product full of activities that meet the desires of the public.
