Qatar's Ambassador to Sudan Affirms to QNA Qatar's Permanent Support for Sudan in All Crises, Difficulties

Port Sudan, June 19 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al Sada affirmed the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, pointing in a related context to Qatar's permanent support for Sudan in all crises and difficulties faced by the brotherly people.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Ambassador noted that from this standpoint and under the generous directive of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the State of Qatar operated an air bridge to support the Sudanese people, noting that the number of Amir Air Force carrying food and medical aid, provided by the Qatar Fund for Development, the Qatar Red Crescent and Qatar Charity, reached 10, which highlights the support of the Amir, the government and the people of Qatar to the people of Sudan.
He pointed out that the Sudanese people welcomed, at the official and popular levels, what was agreed upon during the phone call that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received from HE President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in terms of coordination and the need to take into account the humanitarian aspects and facilitate the flow of aid to those affected by the fighting in Sudan, as well as spare civilians the consequences, provide support and assistance to the Sudanese people and mitigate the effects of the crisis, especially on Sudanese refugees.
HE also noted in a related context the participation of the State of Qatar in chairing a high-level pledge event that will be held on Monday in Geneva to support the humanitarian response plan in Sudan and the region, with the participation of the United Nations, Egypt, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the European Union, stressing that such initiatives and humanitarian pledges will actually contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people.
HE pointed out that the Qatari medical aid to the Sudanese people came in accordance with the lists prepared in direct coordination with the Federal Ministry of Health for specialized medicines according to priority and the necessities and needs of hospitals there. He said that it includes specialized medicines, some of which are for kidney diseases and cancer, for example, as they are most needed at the present time.
As for food aid, he said that it is distributed according to need, in coordination with the Sudanese Supreme Committee, noting that this Qatari humanitarian aid has been distributed in more than 12 Sudanese states, including the state of Khartoum, in which, only two days ago, medicines were also sent and distributed, as well as medical supplies at the beginning of the war.
He explained that the Qatari embassy also communicated with the governor of the Red Sea State, due to its importance and to prioritize in terms of distributing Qatari aid, as it is a displacement area where the Qatar Red Crescent and Qatar Charity distributed food baskets to Sudanese families in Port Sudan, which opened its doors to displaced families from other regions. He pointed out that  thousands of families have benefited from this, in addition to the food assistance provided to some communities in their shelter areas in Port Sudan, including more than 3,000 people from the Yemeni community.
He said that in addition to all the Qatari medical and food aid to the Sudanese people, 1784 Sudanese, most of them with Qatari residency, have been evacuated so far on Qatari relief planes.
He went on to say that what we are doing is a duty dictated by the ties and bonds of Islamic, Arab and human fraternity between the two countries and peoples, adding that the Sudanese people are part of the Qatari society, and we are here in Sudan in our second home and among our people and families.
