Qatar's Ministry of Justice Organizes Workshop On Cyber Security Threats

Doha, March 06 (QNA) - The Ministry of Justice has started a workshop on Monday organized by the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies in cooperation with the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) at the US Department of Justice, with the aim of addressing cybersecurity threats and reviewing cybersecurity best practices for government agencies. In his opening speech to the workshop, the Director of the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies Dr Saleh Ali Al-Fadala, explained that the organization of this workshop comes within the framework of the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies’ pioneering role in legal training in the State of Qatar since 2001, and its constant endeavor to open horizons of cooperation with national, foreign and international counterparts. Al-Fadala added that the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies aims, within its new plan, to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, by raising legal awareness in society, and actively contributing to reducing the risks of using cyberspace, especially among the legal and security groups directly concerned with those risks, noting that this workshop aims to review the latest experiences in this regard. For her part, the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Qatar Natalie Baker, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Justice for organizing this workshop in cooperation with the US Department of Justice, noting that this event highlights a new chapter of cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States of America. She added that this workshop brings together specialists in the State of Qatar and the United States of America over two days to discuss threats in the cyber scene and to share best practices on how to prevent and respond to cyber incidents. In her speech on the occasion, the Assistant Director of the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies Nada Jassim Al-Abdul-Jabbar, emphasized the importance of this workshop to strengthen the cybersecurity system in the country in cooperation with the competent authorities locally and in a country distinguished by its expertise in this field, such as the United States of America.
